About Shannon Warner

Shannon was born and raised in Portland, but following graduation from Scripps College, she lived in San Francisco; Boise; and Oxford, England; where she was introduced to Pilates.

After completing varied coursework in Pilates, including Stott Pilates Beginner and Intermediate Reformer, Pilates Probridge, BASI Pilates, and Stott Pilates Mat and Reformer for Golfers, Shannon realized that one’s physical body and its performance is intricately tied to one’s emotional state. This awareness led her to study the Fajardo Method of Biomechanical Movement with Portland’s own Alicia Fajardo. Through this training, Shannon discovered that we are organisms—not mechanisms. As a result, we must move as whole structures rather than try to isolate certain parts of our bodies.

Shannon’s latest fascination is with the GYROTONIC® Expansion System. She has completed courses in GYROTONIC® Archway, GYROTONIC® for Golfers, GYROTONIC® Leg Extension, Gyrotoner Specialized Equipment, as well as Gyrokinesis. For Shannon, the GYROTONIC® System has been a perfect progression from the concentration and control of Pilates and the mind-body training in the Fajardo Method to the flowing, full-body expression of our potential spinal motions. When Shannon is teaching, she uses a combination of all these trainings to help her students maximize each movement in every moment.
